Installation / Set up

Follow these steps to install Builder CMS for Contact Form 7

  1. Purchase our plugin Builder CMS for Contact Form 7
  2. Install and activate the plugin on your WordPress website
  3. Navigate to the Contact Form 7 Dashboard
  4. Click on Settings -> BuilderCMS
  5. Enter the settings provided by Builder CMS and save the configuration
  6. In the desired form, add a feed by clicking on Builder CMS tab and check “Enable Integration”
  7. Map Builder CMS Keys to your Form fields
  8. You can use predefined shortcode for some select field, for example countries  [select your-country data:buildercms.countries], you can find the shortcode in the bottom of the setting page

Builder CMS for Contact Form 7 Plugin Setup Instructions

Prerequisites

Before installing the BuilderCMS plugin, ensure you have:

  • WordPress website with administrator access
  • Contact Form 7 plugin installed and activated (required)
  • An active subscription from ADV Web Design
  • Your BuilderCMS credentials (provided by BuilderCMS)

Step 1: Install the BuilderCMS Plugin

  1. Download the Plugin
    • Download the plugin file (contact-form-7-buildercms.zip) after checkout
    • Keep this file saved on your computer
  2. Upload the Plugin
    • Log into your WordPress admin dashboard
    • Go to Plugins → Add New
    • Click the “Upload Plugin” button at the top
    • Click “Choose File” and select the contact-form-7-buildercms.zip file
    • Click “Install Now”
    • Once installed, click “Activate Plugin”
  3. Verify Installation
    • After activation, you should see “Contact Form 7 BuilderCMS Integration” in your plugins list
    • The plugin should show as active with version information

Step 2: Configure BuilderCMS Settings

  1. Access Settings
    • In your WordPress admin, go to Contact > BuilderCMS
  2. Enter Your BuilderCMS Credentials
    Fill out the following required fields (all information provided by BuilderCMS):Username (Required)

    • Enter the username provided by BuilderCMS

    Password (Required)

    • Enter the password provided by BuilderCMS

    Community Number (Required)

    • Enter your community number provided by BuilderCMS

    Cookie ID (Optional)

    • Enter your Cookie ID if provided by BuilderCMS
    • This enables automatic script inclusion for tracking

    Follow Up Code (Required)

    • Select from dropdown: A, B, C, D, E, or F
    • Use the code assigned to you by BuilderCMS

    Source (Required)

    • Enter your lead source identifier (e.g., “Website”)
  3. Save Settings
    • Click “Save Settings” at the bottom of the page
    • You should see a confirmation message

Step 3: Set Up Form Integration

Creating a New Form

  1. Access Your Forms
    • Go to Contact > Contact Forms in your WordPress admin
    • Click on the form you want to connect to BuilderCMS (e.g., “Contact us”)
  2. Click on BuilderCMS Tab
    • Check Send submissions to BuilderCMS

    Field Mapping

    • Map your form fields to BuilderCMS fields:

    Required Fields:

    • First Name > add CF7 shortcode you are using for First Name (eg. [first-name])
    • Last Name > add CF7 shortcode you are using for Last Name (eg. [last-name])

    Common Optional Fields:

    • Email Address > add CF7 shortcode email code
    • Phone Number > add CF7 shortcode phone code
    • Address – Street > add CF7 shortcode address code
    • Address – City > add CF7 shortcode city code
    • Address – State > add CF7 shortcode state code (eg. [select your-state data:buildercms.states])
    • Address – Zip Code > add CF7 shortcode zip code
    • Comments > add CF7 shortcode message/comments code

    Special Fields:

    • Best Contact > add CF7 shortcode [select best-contact data:buildercms.bestcontact]
    • Purchase Timeframe > add CF7 shortcode [select timeframe data:buildercms.timeframe]
    • Purchase Type > add CF7 shortcode [select purchase-type data:buildercms.purchasetype]
    • Income Level > add CF7 shortcode [select income data:buildercms.income_low]
    • Price Range > add CF7 shortcode [select price-range data:buildercms.price_medium]
    • Save

    Step 6: Test Your Setup

    1. Submit a Test Entry
      • Visit your form on the frontend
      • Fill out and submit a test entry
      • Check that the form submits successfully
    2. Verify Integration
      • Check your BuilderCMS dashboard to confirm the lead was received
      • Verify all mapped fields are populated correctly
    3. Check Logs (if needed)
      • In your wp-config file, add

    Troubleshooting

    Common Issues:

    “Subscription Required” Messages

    • Ensure your BuilderCMS subscription is active
    • Contact ADV Web Design at contact@adv.design or (800) 401-2238

    Forms Not Sending to BuilderCMS

    • Verify all required settings are filled correctly
    • Check that Contact Form 7 is activated
    • Use the “Clear All Caches” button in Builder CMS settings
    • Activate Logging settings in Contact Form 7
    • Submit a new test form
    • Check your debug log

    Field Mapping Issues

    • Ensure First Name and Last Name are mapped (required)
    • Use predefined choices for dropdown fields when specified

    Cache Management

    If you experience issues with subscription status or updates:

    • Go to Contact > Builder CMS
    • Scroll to “Cache Management”
    • Click “Clear All Caches”
    • Wait for confirmation and page reload
